Event Description

What is Little Eagles?

The Little Eagles Summer Enrichment Program focuses on the development of language and social skills through small group work and activities.

  • Occupational therapy group instruction focusing on handwriting, coordination, and school prep.
  • Speech therapy group instruction focusing on pragmatics & working cooperatively with peers.
  • Healthy living activities that include gardening, cooking, and exploring new foods.
  • Music group instruction focusing on language and learning skills with movement.

Little Eagles is ideal for children ages 6-10 that are typically in general education settings at school with minimal supports, please see below for details.

  • Students should be able to effectively communicate their wants and needs and demonstrate early classroom and group skills.
  • Students should be able to toilet and feed themselves as well as participate in group activities/instructions without a 1:1 support staff.
  • Because Little Eagles is not designed to support children 1:1, we are unable to accept those with significant behavioral/emotional needs requiring individualized behavior support plans.
  • A pre-screening meeting with a BCBA is required for new clients that would like to participate to ensure they are a good fit for the group. During this appointment the BCBA will perform a brief parent interview. Please plan to bring a copy of your child’s IEP, any clinical assessments or treatment notes, and examples of work completed at school to this meeting.

Staff Qualifications

All staff are trained in fundamentals of autism, positive behavior support, and therapeutic play.

Program Administration: The ACC employs a team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts with a combined 20+ years of experience working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and providing services to children with autism. The BCBA team collaborates with the Little Eagles Lead Teacher, Support Staff, and Clinical Staff to ensure your child will have meaningful social and academic learning opportunities.

Lead Teacher: This year Little Eagles is proud to welcome back Melissa Buck, CCC-SLP to the team. She has received her MA in Speech-Language Pathology and has several years of experience working in autism. Melissa will use a variety of evidenced-based treatment strategies to facilitate daily lessons that focus on personal and academic growth.

Support Staff: Children enrolled in Little Eagles will benefit from working with highly trained support staff. These individuals are in pursuit of, or have completed, a degree in an allied health field. Each staff member has significant training and experience working with children with autism and are equipped to support your child’s academic and social needs.

Clinical Staff: The ACC Occupational Therapist (OT) and Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will be ‘push in’ each week to provide group instruction that focuses on the development of social communication, play, and engagement while providing skills necessary to be successful in academic environments.
